The monthly Roundtable meeting will begin with announcements and recognitions; followed by Cub Scout and ScoutsBSA breakout sessions. Roundtable is the best way to find out what is happening at the district and council levels. Interaction and discussion between leaders is a valuable tool and learning experience. We encourage all units to have at least one person attend the Roundtable to participate in the discussion, hear the announcements, and to receive any handouts and mail in the unit mailbox.
The Northwoods District Roundtable takes place the 2nd Tuesday of the month, beginning at 7:30pm. Roundtable is intended to be 60 minutes, from 7:30 to 8:30. District leaders will be available after for questions and fellowship. Those on a tight schedule may leave. We meet at St Simon Episcopal Church, 717 W Kirchhoff Rd., Arlington Heights. Walk down the stairs from the parking lot. Leaders are encouraged to attend in uniform. Any and all unit adults are welcome; registered, uniformed, or not!
Roundtable fliers will be posted on the News tab.
The Allemakewunk Chapter of the Order of the Arrow meets in the same building at the same time! Bring an OA member or two with you.
Online courses are available 24X7 at my.scouting.org
Login (or create an account if you don't have one) and check out your completions in the Training Center for these online courses.
Required to be fully trained for your registered position:
- Youth Protection – required for all registered adult volunteers, highly recommended for any adults who have youth contact; renew every two years
- Position Specific Training - required to wear the "Trained" patch and a great help in making your job easier
- Hazardous Weather Training – required to be considered trained for your position; good idea to review before all outings to know how to prepare and respond if weather turns bad; renew every 2 years
Supplemental On-line Trainings:
- Safety Afloat – needed when outings may include watercraft; renew every two years
- Safe Swim Defense – needed when there may be swimming activities, man made or natural areas; renew every two years
- Climb on Safely – needed when climbing will be part of the outing activities
- Program Safety / Drive Safely – how to be a better defensive driver, recognizing hazards and preventing collisions.
- Baloo Prerequisite Training – Health and Safety Considerations; Cub Scout packs MUST have a BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) trained leader on site for any overnight activity. This is the prerequisite to the in person training.

Questions? Contact Tim Meinholtz, the District Membership Chair, at NorthWoodsPTAC@gmail.com.
Unit leaders, please sign up your Pack, Troop, or Crew for a Friends of Scouting (FOS) presentation and make a pledge of support to Scouting at your unit FOS presentation. A strong Scouting program requires good outdoor experiences, trained leaders and financial resources to assure operations and camps continue to be the quality our youth deserve. Your unit support of FOS is part of making Scouting strong. The district would appreciate an opportunity to make a presentation sharing with parents the value of scouting in our local community and requesting thier financial support.

North Woods District contact is Al Wilson, Vice Chairman Finance: alwilson100@comcast.net Please contact him with any questions or to schedule your unit presentation.

When making your FOS pledge, remember many companies have programs that will match donations to Scouting. Volunteer hours may also be recognized by employers for a matching gift. For a list of companies that have matching programs visit Does my company match gifts?. Boy Scouts of America is a nonprofit 501c3 organization allowing donations to be fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
